MAFAR-BARMM TURNS OVER PEANUT SHELLER AND COFFEE DEPULPER TO FARMERS IN SULU

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), through Dr Jalika D. Mangacop, HVCDP Focal Person, Mercyan B. Aspi, Provincial Agricultural Officer-Sulu and Ammal D. Solaiman, Assistant to the Minister for PPME, turned over two units of peanut sheller & a unit of coffee depulper to Tausug farmers representing their cooperatives in Sulu Province.

The activity was held at the former DAF office compound in Patikul, Sulu, and now MAFAR-Sulu Office on March 2, 2020.

According to Sabrina A. Jupuri, Sulu HVCDP Coordinator, the farmer-beneficiaries have existing areas for peanut production. They have also received peanut seeds & coffee seedlings from MAFAR under HVCDP. These farmers were Abdullah Jaiyali of Damag, Patikul, Sahaya sin Lupah and Dindin Iraji of Tubod, Talipao, and promising coffee grower Nur Ain Juraim of OSAMA-Lahing Lahing, in Omar municipality.

The farmers extended their heartfelt gratitude to the MAFAR- BARMM for the support given to them and they assured the ministry to maintain and maximize the operation of the units.

Dr Mangacop said the provision of machine units were funded under the 2019 banner program funds from DA Central Office headed by Secretary Dr. William D. Dar all geared towards attaining “Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita”.
