MAFAR undergoes orientation on ARC launching in BARMM

COTABATO CITY- 20 Agrarian Reform officers have undergone orientation on Agrarian Reform Communities launching and document preparation at Pagana Kutawato and Native Restaurant.

The orientation runs from July 18-19 for the participants from Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur provincial offices and July 22-23 for the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

BDG Taugan S. Kikay, Ph.D. said the importance of this orientation of ARC development strategy focuses on priority agrarian reform areas to maximize resource allocation, complementation, and mobilization for greater efficiency and impact, taking into consideration of the limited financial and material resources of the government.

He also said, “You are the frontline of the agrarian reform program, this orientation is a part of the capacity building, and it is very important for us. We need to be knowledgeable about the concept of ARC since the ministry is engaging with the beneficiaries through interventions.”

He also challenged the participants to apply their new learning.

Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) is a development strategy adopted in 1993 as an integrated approach to the development of communities. Hence, It complemented land distribution with interventions designed to improve the productivity of the land and the farmers.

Chief of Agrarian Reform Program Officer for EDESS Pendatun Mambatawan said the launching and confirmation of ARCs is a vital output indicator for the ministry. Successes are demonstrated through the mobilization of foreign and local assistance for the implementation of support projects.

Selection and launching of ARC are critical initial steps in ARC development, there is a need to orient the MAFAR personnel to acquaint them the different criteria in

identification and selection, procedures and considerations in launching ARC and also the documentary requirements to be complied.
