RPCO-BARMM conducts public consultation for coffee proponent groups

LANAO DEL SUR – To inform the public and earn broad community support for the proposed project, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform-Philippine Rural Development Regional Project Coordination Office BARMM conducted a public consultation for the Green Coffee Beans Consolidation, Processing, and Marketing Enterprise on February 1-2, at Barangay Franc Fort, Municipality of Amai Manabilang.

RPCO-BARMM team headed by Deputy Project Director Ammal D. Solaiman, JD, Project Support Office Mindanao, MAFAR Lanao Del Sur, Municipal and Barangay Officials, and the Coffee farmers from the Barangay Pagonayan gathered to discuss the concept of the PRDP and assess the capacity of the enterprise to implement the proposed project.

The Green Coffee Beans Consolidation, Processing, and Marketing Enterprise is a pipeline subproject proposed by St. Mary Downtown Farmers Organization Inc. It intends to avail enterprise projects from the PRDP further to increase its organization’s coffee-level production and marketing.

Barangay Chairwoman Adelfa Manabilang expresses her appreciation for all the support from MAFAR and the PRDP and for choosing their coffee farmers as PRDP target beneficiaries.

“I look forward to a productive partnership and rest assured that the Barangay Local Government Unit will assist and help the organization and coordinate appropriately with them every time they need it,”

After the consultation, the coffee farmers undergo Training Need Assessment, Business Planning, and Financial Analysis Formulation.

In addition, Organic Coffee Arabica is one of the most in-demand products of St. Mary of Downtown Farmers Organization Inc. In the recent Philippine Coffee Expo in Davao City, they are among the top five exhibitors. They also participated and showcased their coffee in the Agri-Trade during Shariff Kabunsunsuan Festival in Cotabato City.
