JICA turns over eighth units of motorcycles to MAFAR Agriculture Extension Workers

The Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA) turned over the eight (8) units of motorcycles to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform Extension Workers on March 8 at MAFAR Cover Court, BGC, Cotabato City.

The eight units of motorcycles will be given to the Agriculture Extension Workers from the MAFAR Provincial Offices of Maguindanao, Lanao Del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi in support of the Upland Rice-base farming Technology Transfer Program for the Bangsamoro (RTPB). A project funded by Japan International Agency Cooperation (JICA) and implemented by MAFAR-BARMM.

Mr. Hirofumi Hoshi, Capacity Development Project for Bangsamoro (CDPB-JICA) Advisor, led the turnover ceremony and emphasized the importance of the motorcycle units in the Agriculture Field Workers who have continuously educating the farmers on new technologies which have a significant contribution in changing the lives of the farmers and the people of BARMM.

“As we hope that the turnover ceremony of eight (8)  motorcycles for the essential used for RTPB Batch III, we hope that this can help in monitoring the progress of our rice production at the field level,” Mr. Hirofumi said.

In his acceptance message, Bangsamoro Director General for Agriculture Services Daud K. Lagasi, Ph.D., expresses his gratitude for the strong partnership and support from the JICA for the capacity development program in Bangsamoro.

“These motorcycles are really important mobility for the extension workers, to enhance our extension activities, fast truck implementation and closely monitor our program and activities,” DG Daud said.

“Rest assured that MAFAR-BARMM, as well as the beneficiaries, will maintain and use this motorcycle properly so that this will last longer for the benefit of our extension workers and the Bangsamoro farmers,” DG Daud added.

Present during the turnover ceremony was the Director II for Agriculture Operation Services Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel, OIC Chief for Agriculture Field Operation Division Baharen A. Piang, Senior Agriculturist of MAFAR Maguindanao Engr. Muhaimin L. Ali, MAFAR officials, and other teams from JICA.
