MAFAR VALIDATES HUNDREDS OF HECTARES OF FARMLANDS IN MAGUINDANAO

Aimed at ensuring that its interventions are awarded appropriately, the MAFAR conducted today (May 19, 2020) another rounds of farm validation activity in the Province of Maguindanao.

The team from the Rice Program Sector, headed by Focal Person Tong A. Abas, assessed different farm sites and among them were the 100-hectare rice farm in Kitango, Datu Saudi Ampatuan and the more or less 200-hectare land in Barangay Kuloy and Lapok in Shariff Aguak and the other farm site in Duaminanga and Reina Regente in Datu Piang.

Abas said the validation was done as it is prerequisite to the distribution of more than 1,000 bags of Certified Rice seeds. The team, according to him, needed to ascertain that the areas of the farmers are ready for planting. It also aimed to ensure that the seeds provided will be used properly and shall be planted immediately to avoid possible damages.

“We are here to check and evaluate your actual areas as Minister Mohammad S. Yacob wants to make sure that the assistance will be delivered and accepted by the actual farmer-beneficiaries. Our main objective is to ensure that we extend the support needed by the farmers just like the provision of basic inputs like seeds”, said BARMMIARC Center Manager Abdulnasseef S. Ulong.

The MAFAR extends essential services and assistance to the farmer-beneficiaries by responding to their requests and the ministry ensures the timely distribution to coincide with the right planting months (May-June) for the farmers to attain higher production.

It is also a means of supporting the needs of farmers being the frontliners in the quest for food sufficiency and security in the region.

Focal Person Abas, said the inputs will be distributed after the Month of Ramadhan owing to significant and valid considerations.

A drone was used to get a comprehensive view and video of the whole farm areas for precise documentation.
