MAFAR-GAD works to empower women

Maguindanao-In support to women’s peace and security, the Gender and Development (GAD) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) has conducted training on Introduction to Organic Agriculture on November 9-12, 2021.

Sixty members of the Social Welfare Committee (SWC) from Barira and Buldon participated in the said activity.

SWC is a line agency of the women sector of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) tasked to promote and protect the welfare of Bangsamoro women.

MAFAR-GAD focal Diana A. Manalasal said the activity aims to provide broad access for women to participate in acquiring knowledge and skills on organic farming.

“One of the significant ways to attain the women peace and security is to educate, empower, and provide sustainable livelihood,” Manalasal said.

Such training is a key opportunity for the women to equally participate in learning and playing their role in achieving sustainable economic development in their community.
