BCBAC FARMER-MEMBERS, DELIGHTED AFTER TRAINING ON RICE-DUCK FARMING SYSTEM

Thirty-eight farmers in Barangay Panosolen, Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao were carefully trained by the MAFAR on Integrated Rice-Duck Farming System in support to the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) today, August 4, 2020.

The training showcased the proper combination of organic rice production and duck raising aimed at increasing the production and income among farmers while decreasing the capital cost.

Salembai A. Abdullah, MAFAR Training and Information Officer, gave the overview of the training emphasizing its very purpose of introducing the integrated farming system to address the problem on low productivity and promote food sufficiency. She also informed the farmers of the advocacy of the Bangsamoro government led by Chief Minister Ahod B. Ebrahim, Al-Hadj, and enjoined by the MAFAR, through Minister Dr Mohammad S. Yacob, that is to bring the programs and projects directly to the beneficiaries to ensure meaningful implemention.

Various lecture presentations were delivered and exhaustively explained by the resource speakers from the MAFAR. These included Organic Agriculture Program Overview by MAFAR Consultant Albaya S. Sagad, Duck Raising for Egg and Meat Production by Dr. Bai Zharinah D. Mangindra, Regional Livestock Focal Person, Integrated Rice-Duck Farming and Management by Mohammad Pangato, Organic Agriculture Program Assistant, and Factors to Consider in Securing Bountiful Harvest in Different Crops shared by Ramil M. Timpolok, Regional HVCDP Focal Person.

The farmers were then given the chance to ask significant and relevant questions to further improve their knowledge and allow them to clarify and get direct responses on how to become more productive and profitable in their farming.

In response, the Chairman of the BARANGAY CAMPO BANGSAMORO AGRICULTURE COOPERATIVE (BCBAC) and Hon. Barangay Councilor Satar Maneged expressed their extreme appreciation to all the officials of the MAFAR for going to their community and improving their knowledge. They also gave their 100% assurance to help in attaining the objectives of the activity.

Packs of assorted vegetable seeds were also distributed to all the participants.
