MAFAR allocates 8,250K bags of palay seeds for Maguindanao farmers

MAGUINDANAO- The Maguindanao provincial office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform has started distributing the 8,250 bags of palay seeds to farmers in Maguindanao after Minister Mohammad S. Yacob has turned over on October 22, 2021, to Dr. Ronjamin Maulana, MAFAR provincial head.

The hybrid seed distribution is rolled out through the Rice Resiliency Project (RRP) under the Ahon Lahat, Pagkain Sapat- Kontra COVID19 or ALPAS-COVID 19, inbred seed distribution is a component of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

A total of 795 bags of hybrid palay seeds (SL-19H and SL-20H) and 3031 bags of inbred palay seeds (NSIC Rc 216, NSIC Rc 222, and NSIC Rc 440) have been simultaneously distributed to individual farmers and members of Irrigators Association (IA) in the towns of Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Mamasapano, and Guindulungan.

On October 25-27, the seeds were delivered with the help of the rice technical staff headed by Chief Agriculturist Tong Abas and Engr. Mohaimen Ali.

The breakdown of the seed distribution are as follows: Datu Saudi Ampatuan with 800 bags inbred and 696 bags hybrid seed; Datu Abdullah Sangki with 329 bags inbred and 99 bags hybrid seed; Mamasapano with1,402 bags inbred seed and Guindulungan with 500 bags inbred seed.

Among the Irrigators Association in the province who were identified to avail of the seed assistance are Maaden IA, Al-Hayat IA and Al-Ansari IA in DSA; Al-Waida IA in DAS; Al-Shariff IA and Al-Gafoor IA in Mamasapano and Kapamagayon IA and Guindulungan IA in Guindulungan.

The farmer-beneficiaries are mostly enrolled in the Registry System of Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA) and whose farm areas were geo-referenced and geo-tagged.

The seed delivery will be in Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Shariff Saidona and its adjacent towns by next week.
