MAFAR-BARMM in Partnership with FAO of United Nations distributes Starter Kits to Community-Based Organizations Outside Bangsamoro Core Territory including Former Combatants

Seven (7) qualified combatants of Municipality of Tungawan received the 1st batch of Starter Kits from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform – BARMM under the Project “Agricultural Training for the Establishment of Peace in Mindanao” (OSRO/PHI/9O1/JPN) funded by the Gov`t of Japan.

These starter kits will support the livelihood start-up process in generating income for the organization and the provision of customized services to their members, according to Mr. Ruben Miranda, FAO Project Team Leader at Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Thursday, March 11, 2021.

This endeavor aims to enhance the agricultural and vocational skills of some 2,000 farmers and fisherfolk in the provinces of Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga Sibugay, and other post-conflict areas in Mindanao, in which they can use their agricultural-based livelihoods or for employment.

Moreover, Tungawa Mayor Hon. Carlnan Climaco welcomes any development especially for the former combatants where they are our development partner. On the other hand Mr. Saylola Abdulmin, MILF Admin Chief, Camp Salman Alfarsie in Tungawan, is his first time to be onstage with the officials of LGUs and speak on behalf of the former combatants. Indeed he is thankful to the almighty and to MAFAR-BARMM and FAO for making this project possible benefitting the people of Tungawan.

Special Concerns Mr. Pendatun Patarasa in his message reiterated the statement of BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, “That the overall goal of this government is to uplift the lives of the Bangsamoro and establishing the foundation for self-governance through the principle of moral governance.”
