MAFAR, BPCC CONDUCTS PRICE MONITORING OF RICE IN COTABATO CITY

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform, in collaboration with the region’s Bangsamoro Price Coordinating Council (BPCC) led by MTIT, has officially started the conduct of price monitoring of rice in the major markets of Cotabato City on Monday, September 11, 2023.

This is in line with Executive Order 39, series of 2023, entitled “Imposition of Mandated Rice Ceilings on Rice,” issued by the Office of the President on August 31, 2023.

The rice ceilings are the following: Regular Milled Rice Variety mandated price ceiling is P41.00 per kilogram, and Well-Milled Rice is P45.00 per kilogram.

On the said Executive Order under Section 3, paragraph 1, “Pursuant to Section 10(9) and (15) of RA No. 7581, the DTI and DA shall ensure the strict implementation of the mandated price ceilings on rice in the market, including monitoring and investigation of abnormal price movements thereof, and provision of assistance to affected retailers”.

In addition, the MAFAR team was led by Director General of Agriculture Services Daud K. Lagasi, Ph.D., AMAD, and Regulatory Division personnel.
