MAFAR capacitates regulatory officers

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform has conducted Capacity Building for Regulatory Officers from regional to provincial offices at Em Manor Hotel, Cotabato City, on January 25-28.

Jamer M. Guimba, chief of Regulatory & Quarantine Division, said this activity is the first capacity building which aims to capacitate officers on regulatory & quarantine protocols, standards, and processes, educate on rules, laws, and issuance enforced by the Regulatory Division.

They should be knowledgeable of their roles and functions and the services offered by the division, familiarize with the licensing, registration, accreditation and certification process of agricultural commodities and facilities, a roster of Regulatory and quarantine officers for deputation are drafted, and borders (entry and exit points) are identified, and quarantine posts are proposed for staffing and funding, Guimba added.

The Training Workshop components are Plant and Animal Quarantine Protocols and Standards, Regulatory functions and services, rules, laws, and provisions enforced by Regulatory Division and Deputation of Quarantine Officers, which was given by the resource speakers from Bureau of Plant Industry- PQS XII Chief Jimboy S. Pintokasan from the Bureau of Animal Industry-NVQS BARMM, Dr. Geraldson A. Navarra, Dr. Cris Pangol from the DA-RFO 12, Dr. Neil C. Doton, Dr. Amina H. Ubagan, Dr. Ann Sheila C. Lana and Ruby Ann Mojana.
