MAFAR conducts consultation to formulate regulation

The MAFAR Regulatory and Quarantine Division has conducted its Policy Research Cum Consultation for the Process flows and Operations Manual and Guidelines for MAFAR Regulatory and Quarantine Division Staff and Legal Services at Pagana Kutawato Native Restaurant, Cotabato City on December 9-10, 2021.

Jamer Guimba Chief Regulatory and Quarantine Division said this activity is intended to be the initial step to review and revisit existing laws on plant and animal regulatory and quarantine applicable to BARMM.

It will serve as a learning process for the newly hired staff as well as an assessment of the performance and coaching activities for their development.

He said MAFAR needs to firm up, enhance and formulate its Regulatory and Quarantine rules and regulations that aim to protect the country’s and regional animals, plants, and plant products from potential infection and damages of pests and diseases. Thus, recommendations to improve the services of the Regulatory and Quarantine Division, including elevating the issue for deliberation with the Inter-Governmental Relations Body whenever necessary.

Dr. Raheima Amba-Manguindra Veterinarian III presented the Manual of Operations and Guidelines of Regulatory and Quarantine Division and the Organizational Structure, which Hafsa Arab Human Resource Officer confirmed.

They come up with the recommendations with the help of legal services Jamel B. Macacua, JD, Special Investigator III to assess and identify the limitation to the border in Airport and Seaport within the BARMM Region, and amendments of the implementation policies and procedures of Licensing, Accreditation, and Registration appropriate to BARMM Region.
