MAFAR conducts trainer’s training on the marketing of fishery products and entrepreneurship

To further expand the awareness and knowledge of the assigned personnel of the ministry region-wide, 18 participants attended the trainer’s training on the marketing of fishery products and entrepreneurship held at Pagana Kutawato and Native Restaurant, Cotabato City, on May 11-13, 2022.

The three-day activity aims to educate the participants on the technical knowledge and strategy in marketing, determining the correct and potential market of fish-derived products, how to use ads, proper labeling and packaging, and entrepreneurship.

Director-General for Fisheries Services, Pendatun S. Patrasa, said that this training in the marketing of fish-derived products should be incorporated into the overall and ultimate goal of this government to bring about the best of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

He said that we are not only focused on fulfilling the work given to you merely out of compliance but a work-driven commitment so that, in the end, we are contributory to our sector.

We also need to let our clients understand the goodness of an entrepreneur, he added.

The training featured knowledge on the marketing of fishery products, strategies and opportunities, proper packaging, labeling, market linkages and promotion, and the basic concept of entrepreneurship shared by resource speakers Christine Dareen Mae Bedia and Annalyn T. Usop, both from the Department of Trade and Industry, Region 12 and Ayessa Belle Y. Mamokan of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism-BARMM.

Director II for Fisheries Services Macmod Mamalangkap, Ph.D., thanked the participants for giving their focus during the training to equip them more in implementing the fisheries projects.

OIC Chief Radma A. Isnani, RFT, MSCAQ, spearheaded the said activity and gave the overview of the training together with the staff of Fisheries Post-Harvest  and Marketing Division.
