MAFAR CONDUCTS WORKSHOP ON MARKET DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRIORITY COMMODITIES

COTABATO CITY | March 13,2021

First Workshop on Market Development of the Priority Commodities in Maguindanao for 2022-2025 conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) thru the Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD). The activity was held at Alnor Hotel, Cotabato City on March 11-13, 2021.

AMAD Chief Dr. Tong D. Pinguiaman said, “The main purpose of the workshop is to discuss and address the market problem and linkages of the produced product among farmers”.

“The conduct of the activity specifies providing knowledge to the participants especially on how to process the produced products of the farmers. I believe that having enough knowledge in processing will intensify the economic status of every farmer and fisherfolk,” Pinguiaman added.

Highlights of the Workshop were the presentation of the following: Salient Points of MAFAR Food Security and Nutrition RoadMap presented by Director II for Agriculture Services Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel, MAFAR BARMM Situationer by Planning Officer III Mohalidin Mohammad, Agriculture Situationer by Agriculture Chief Tong Abas, Fisheries Situationer by Director II for Fisheries Services Dr. Macmod Mamalangkap and Director II for Agrarian Reform Services Dr. Taugan Kikay on ARB Communities and Commodities.

MAFAR Maguindanao Operations Chief Saudi Mangindra presented the Commodity Profiles of the Maguindanao Province while the PLGU- Maguindanao with the OPAG thru OIC Provincial Agriculturist Monib Usman presented the Programs, Activities, and Projects of the OPAG in the year 2022-2025.

The participants were gathered in this workshop to anchors the discussion and promotion of the programs for the betterment of Bangsamoro. Also, a similar activity shall be conducted at the Island Provinces including Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Sulu, including the Province of Lanao del Sur and the 63 Barangays.

Meanwhile, MAFAR Minister Dr. Mohammad S. Yacob thanked the AMAD and the rest of the officials for expressing their commitment in helping the beneficiaries by participating in the said activity. He also encourages every participant and official to maximize their effort and serve as a protector for every farmer and fisherman in the Bangsamoro Community.

Minister Yacob added, “The market comprises three major components which include Needs, Wants, and Demands. “Our prerequisite is to have enough knowledge and skills that focus on finding what are the basic needs and best product of our communities”.
