MAFAR employees train on records management

Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao-To introduce the basic concept and the importance of records management; the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, through the Records Section, conducted a two-day training on records management on November 13 and 20, at Precious Cabana Ynna Beach Resort.

Forty-five employees of MAFAR participated in the activity spearheaded by Director for Admin and Finance Management Services Julie O. Maliga, RN, MPASR, and MAFAR Records Officer III, Farhana A. Linso.

In his message, Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., stated that records management has a vital role in implementing the ministry’s mandate.

“Our ministry is working in the system, and if one of the systems is not working, it will affect the performance of the whole,” Minister Yacob said.

“We want our ministry to deliver effective and efficient services to our farmers and fisherfolks, but we cannot deliver that service if our system is not stable and the records office delayed and failed to deliver the communication paper on the responsible person on time,” Minister Yacob emphasized.

The activity highlighted the topics on Records Management in an Organization, Legal and Regulatory Context on Public Records, Records Creation and General Overview of Different Kinds of Records in the Public Sector, discussed by Dr. Normia A. Salindal, Acting Chief of Finance and Administrative Division, DAB.

Meanwhile, Farhana M. Sanguan, Executive Assistant III, Records Division, OCM, discussed the focus on the Records Maintenance and Control Mechanisms: Norms and Practices from Established Organization, Inventory and Appraisal of Records, and Disposal of Valueless Records.
