MAFAR EMPLOYEES TRAINED IN COMMUNICATION FOR POLICY ADVOCACY

DAVAO CITY- At least 21 employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform, together with the Office of MP Mohammad Yacob staff, underwent training on strategic communications for policy advocacy on October 10-13.

Mr. Chris V. Cayon, Chief of the Party of The Asia Foundation- Forward Bangsamoro, spearheaded the four-day training with Mr. Rahib M. Nando, Capacity Development Specialist, and Bai Jemimah Sinarimbo, Assistant Program.

To capacitate the BAFAR bill proponent, the employees of MAFAR and the Office of MP Mohammad Yacob go through training on effective communication skills useful to communicate the proposed code to farmers, fisherfolks, and other concerned stakeholders in the Bangsamoro

were part of the activity’s prime objectives.

Mr. Cayon said, “The TAF, USAID is committed to assisting you whenever you need us. This training workshop is one of our priorities because it empowers you and enhances the overall success of the BAFAR Bill.”

He said the BAFAR bill represents the community of our Bangsamoro farmers, Fisherfolk, and ARBOs.

During the training workshop, Resource Person Ms. Janice Faye Sevilla shared her expertise in communication and discussed strategic communication, developing a strategic communications plan, policy advocacy, and reform case studies.

Meanwhile, Atty. Nerissa Dalig, Atty. V delivered the message of the minister and said, “ We are grateful to be part of this remarkable training on Strategic Communications through the technical assistance extended by the Asia Foundation and TAF-Forward Bangsamoro’s technical advisory behind this project since the beginning of the drafting of our BAFAR code.”

“The Communication strategies learned, and key messages developed for different target audiences through the mentoring of Ms. Sevilla and recommendations given will be adopted by the MAFAR and my BTA office to ensure that policies are in place for the growth of agriculture and fishery as economic sectors and help improve the livelihood of small farmers and fisherfolk and Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries in Bangsamoro,” Minister said.

He said to MAFAR and my BTA office personnel, may the training help you acquire added knowledge, skills, and competencies in communication. May you continue to be motivated and be a catalyst who could make a difference in the lives of the Bangsamoro farmers, fisherfolk, and agrarian reform beneficiaries.

In addition, the following training workshop of MAFAR and the Office of MP Yacob will be conducted in the next months.
