MAFAR EMPOWERS VEGETABLE PRODUCERS ON MARKET LINKAGE

COTABATO CITY- “We are here to help our farmers link their products and try to address their major problem on how they can sell their produced products,” said Director II for Agriculture Services Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel on the recent conduct of Market Linkage on Vegetable.

Spearheaded by the Agribusiness Marketing and Assistance Division (AMAD) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform on September 7, 2023.

Director Guiamel also said one of the major purposes of the activity is to ensure that the farmers’ products are marketed and to inspire them to continue strengthening the production of the vegetables, as well.

“At the end of the activity, we will try to change the perception of our farmers that they must produce production volumes since we are strengthening the Market Linkage,” he emphasized.

According to AMAD Chief Datu Hamsur J. Zaid, the conduct of the activity is merely to ensure food security, reduce food wastage, motivate farmers, and promote economic growth.

He also expressed his appreciation to the partner agencies who took an important place in securing food stability.

The Market Linkage empowers farmers by giving them access to more extensive and diverse consumer markets. This increased income not only improves their livelihoods but also motivates them to invest in better agricultural practices, ultimately leading to higher yields and improved product quality.

Market linkage also serves as the backbone of our agricultural and food distribution system, ensuring that the fruits of our farmers’ labor reach every corner of our society.

The said activity highlights the discussion of the Region’s situation on Vegetables, Value Chain Analyses on Vegetables, the Bangsamoro Food Stamps Project, the School-Based Feeding Program, and Procurement Programs.
