MAFAR EQUIPS FARMERS, FISHERFOLK IN TRAINING ON PROFILING SKILLS

To ensure the accuracy of collecting data, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform conducted a comprehensive training on Farmers and Fisherfolks Profiling and Farm Area Measurement on October 10-11 at Golden Lace Resto, Cotabato City.

The two-day training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of MAFAR Extension Workers, newly hired RSBSA enumerators, and geo-taggers.

In his message, Director II for Research Development and Extension, Tong A. Abas, expressed his aspirations for successfully updating the RSBSA (Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture) database.

He emphasized the significance of profiling and geo-referencing in the RSBSA, which involves face-to-face interviews with farmers to collect vital information.

In alignment with the policy direction set by MAFAR Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D. on proper utilization of resources, Provincial Director of Maguindanao, Ronjamin M. Maulana, Ph.D., emphasized the essential role of extension workers, RSBSA enumerators, and geo-taggers in collecting precise data from farmers. He noted that accurate data is the foundation for proper resource utilization and access for the farming community.

“Having accurate and reliable data is crucial for our decision-making processes and allocating our resources to support our farmers,” said PD Maulana.

Moreover, the Assistant to the Provincial Director for SGA and Cotabato City, Disumimba D. Rasheed, stressed the importance of this training and its critical role in ensuring the accuracy and cleanliness of the data related to farmers.

He acknowledged that this data is foundational for the ministry’s future planning and resource allocation.

MAFAR will conduct the same activity for Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi from October 12 to November 7, 2023.
