MAFAR, FCA inks MOA with businessmen in Tawi-Tawi

Some farmers, cooperatives, and associations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform from Cotabato City and Maguindanao Province signed the Memorandum of Understanding with a businessman based in Tawi-Tawi.

A producer of shrimp, namely Mr. Jul A. Karem, will be the shrimp supplier to Oms Enterprises, and the latter will be the supplier of katambak and red grouper.

On February 20-23, the First Travel and Trade at MSU-TCTO, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi was participated by the ministry’s Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), Fisheries PostHarvest and Marketing Division ( FPHMD) and Enterprise Development Economic Support Services Division (EDESSD).

The 3- day activity aims to facilitate the sustainability of the connectivity of the mainland to the island provinces as the long-term strategic direction toward local economic stability.

One of the highlights of the activity was the Business Matching between the producers from the mainland of the BARMM region and buyers from the Tawi-Tawi island, which was facilitated by the MAFAR personnel and MTIT personnel.

Business Matching is a technique allowing MSMEs and other agri-fishery commodities suppliers/producers and buyers to identify their prospects and meet potential partners thru face to face discussions.
