MAFAR GIVES LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT TO FISHERFOLKS IN LANAO DEL SUR

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform is continuously providing livelihood support to fisherfolks in Lanao del Sur.

The MAFAR, through the Bangon Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction Program, awarded the brush park two units in the municipality of Butig two units in the Sindolan, Pualas, One in Bacolod Kalawi, One in Amay, One in Calocan, Marawi and One in Barangay Timbangan Lanao del Sur on July 26.

MAFAR Deputy Minister Ammal D. Solaiman said the assistance aims to ensure sustainable livelihood for fisherfolks.

“The installation of equipment aimed to support the food security and sustainable income for the fisherfolk,” she said.

Stated in an interview, the MAFAR will install the remaining two brush parks in the municipality of Ganassi and One in the municipality of Bayang.

“The provision of these livelihood inputs will not just help increase fish population in the identified site but will also improve capture fisheries for sustainable fisheries development, poverty alleviation, and food security,” Solaiman said.

Aside from fishing equipment, the MAFAR will also provide the fisherfolks in Lanao del Sur a training on how they handle their given interventions.

It was funded under BMRRP from BFAR National Office and course thru BFAR-Region 10.

“The BMRRRP program wants to assist in the ongoing rehabilitation and reintroduction of livelihoods in the communities of Lanao del Sur,” Solaiman added.
