MAFAR HOLDS THE 8TH EXPANDED MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform conducted its 8th Expanded Management Committee Meeting with the theme “MAFAR: Scaling-up Initiatives for Sustainable Development,” held in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, from December 4-9, 2023.

Hosted by the MAFAR Provincial Office of Tawi-Tawi, the event brought together around 80 officials from various offices, including the regional and provincial offices of the ministry.

This served as a platform to deliberate on key agendas to enhance the ministry’s services by reviewing updates on the program’s accomplishments and addressing issues and concerns in agriculture, fisheries, and agrarian reform services to maintain focus and productivity toward the success of the BARMM’s economy.

Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., in his opening message, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding performance executed by the entire MAFAR.

“Your unwavering dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and it is the driving force behind the progress we are witnessing today,” Minister Yacob said.

“Our approach to the MAFAR program implementation is evolving, steering away from traditional methods. Today, I would like to highlight the transformative steps we are taking to enhance engagement, particularly focusing on the investment side of our activities,” he added.

The minister also expressed his honor in sharing remarkable achievement updates with the official attendees, showcasing MAFAR’s efforts to enhance engagement and investment in its programs.

To assess the progress of each provincial office, all provincial directors of the ministry presented the Physical and Financial Accomplishments of the FY 2023 and 2022 Extended Regular Programs and Projects.

The meeting comprised crucial updates, including a presentation on the financial accomplishment of the F.Y. 2022 and 2023 programs, ensuring that resources are allocated.

Also, it highlighted the presentation on the Durian Industry’s crucial role in BARMM’s economic development, emphasizing the need for a strategic approach and urging stakeholders and policymakers to prioritize and amplify efforts in promoting durian production.

In addition, the Mancom conducted the turnover of the Seaweed Buying Station at Barangay Butun and the Mass Distribution of Agri-Fisheries Inputs at the MAFAR Tawi-Tawi Provincial Office.
