MAFAR joins the capacity building on fisheries management area planning process

SOUTH COTABATO- The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform participates in the capacity building on Fisheries Management Area (FMA) Planning Process at Dolores Farm Resort, Polomolok, on April 28-29, 2022.

Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources XII Regional Director Usop Pendaliday, Jr. acknowledged the attendance of the member of FMA delegates from MAFAR-BARMM, BFAR VIIII, XII, Central Office and Resource Persons from USAID Fish Right Project Atty. Alett Nunez-Law Police and Governance Advisor, and Dr. Andre Jon Uychiayco-Senior Fisheries Advisor.

MAFAR Director-General for Fisheries Services Pendatun Patarasa emphasized the vision, mission, and mandate of the MAFAR and the ultimate goal of the Bangsamoro government to uplift the living conditions of Bangsamoro by efficiently providing quality services based on the principle of moral governance.

He added that fisheries management would help address current issues in the industry through science-based planning and management toward attaining sustainable fisheries development.

This training would capacitate fisheries staff in analyzing issues and concerns using problem tree analysis tool, prioritization, and rolling out planning process in the respective FMA. In addition, MAFAR participants are the Fisheries Services staff from Lanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao, and Basilan.
