MAFAR JOINS THE CELEBRATION OF THE 46TH NUTRITION MONTH

The MAFAR, through its High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), joined the celebration of the 46th Nutrition Month that featured the Launching of Handwashing Facility and the Gulayan sa Paaralan Harvest Festival held at the Kauran Elementary School, Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Monday (July 20, 2020).

The Gulayan sa Paaralan program is a collaborative effort of the MAFAR and the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) which is supported by the Local Government Unit aimed at addressing malnutrition among learners and promoting food sufficiency.

The celebration is anchored with the theme “Batang Pinoy, SANA TALL.. Iwas Stunting, SAMA ALL” and was attended by the key officials from the different line agencies of the BARMM.

From the MAFAR team, Dr. Jalika D. Mangacop led the group and she represented Minister Dr. Mohammad S. Yacob. In her message, she assured the group that the MAFAR is in full support to push for proper nutrition and beat malnutrition.

Mangacop also said that the ministry ensures the delivery of its mandates that include bringing the project closer to the community to inspire every individual to become self-reliant and food secure Bangsamoro.

Meanwhile, Ampatuan Municipal Mayor Hon. Bai Leah G. Sangki gladly said that their municipality has been strongly supporting the program of the ministry. She also appreciated all the key officials for giving their effort to become part of the program implementation towards the development of their communities.

The vegetable seeds used, planted, and harvested were donated by the MAFAR through the HVCDP and to ensure the continuity of the program, 500 packs of assorted vegetable seeds were distributed by the ministry for the next planting season.
