MAFAR MET WITH U.S. COMMERCIAL SERVICE AND THE U.S. EMBASSY DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE FOR AGRIBUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., attended a meeting on Agribusiness Investment Opportunities with stakeholders from the Philippines and the United States Today, September 28.

U.S. Commercial Service and the U.S. Embassy Department of Commerce hosted the activity at the SMX Convention in SM Lanang, Davao City.

Minister Yacob highlighted the pivotal role of Agribusiness in both nations’ hearts and economies.

He emphasized that agribusiness is more than farming; it represents economic development, sustainability, and innovation.

“Agribusiness acts as a lifeline for communities, providing food security, employment opportunities, and substantial contributions to national economies,” he added.

During the meeting, notable attendees included representatives from the US Embassy’s Commerce Department and US Companies specializing in agricultural technology, who have all expressed a strong desire to work together and invest in the Bangsamoro Government, particularly in the agricultural sector.

The key partnership areas may include Education on Agriculture and Aquaculture, Connectivity and Energy Solutions, and Facilities for Post-Harvest Goods.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) Hamsur Zaid presented the “Agribusiness Investment Opportunities in the Bangsamoro.”

His presentation is focused on investment prospects across various sectors, including Corn, Seaweed, Rubber, Abaca, Aquaculture, Coffee, Coconut, and the Halal industry. These opportunities resulted from the region’s growth potential and the prospect for collaboration in Agribusiness.

This conference emphasized the significance of forming global partnerships, exchanging knowledge, and working together to pursue possibilities that could potentially create sustainable growth in the agricultural industry.
