MAFAR officials meet to update Halal Food Production in the region

The Halal Section of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform has conducted Social Preparation Meeting on Information Awareness of Halal Food Production in the Bangsamoro region held at the Golden Lace Resto in Cotabato City.

On November 17, Halal Section Chief Saidona Lawan said the activity was aimed to update the different provinces in BARMM about the preparation of the fort coming 2nd BARMM Regional Halal Congress on December 8-10 and promotion of halal food products and review the implementation of Halal Congress.

Saidona said they would be focused on the advocacy and look for the agency that could help, especially MOST, MOLE, MTIC, MTIC, MPIT, and Ulama Congress in the Philippines to promote and advocate Halal.

The Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Marawi City, Maguindanao, SGA 63 Barangay, and Cotabato City, Regional Office, as well as the Central Office, is included in the Halal Congress.

According to Chief Saudi Mangindra, “We hope that BARMM could create a Certified Halal and we should have a strong information drive to strengthen the awareness down to the community level.

In addition, Dir. Daud K. Lagasi, Bangsamoro Director General for Agriculture Services, said that Halal Industry Development Program must be led in the BARMM region. It’s a challenge for us to promote the Halal industry, especially the production of halal animals like goats, cattle, chickens, and other livestock products.

The highlight of the Congress will be the Halal exhibit by the provinces this coming December.
