MAFAR-PDRP holds training on sustainable goat production

ISULAN, SULTAN KUDARAT – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform held training on Goat Farm and Herd Management through the Philippine Rural Development Project of the Bangsamoro region on November 24-26, 2021.

The said training aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge and skills in sustainable goat production as it is considered a significant economic activity in Maguindanao.

The first batch of training was conducted for the Farmer-leaders of Kalian Bangsamoro Women’s Agri Marketing Cooperative, and Lumpingan Agri Marketing Cooperative as the identified participant.

Within three days, the participants learned the status of the goat industry in Maguindanao. They also know the different breeds and selection as well as the common diseases of goat and their control.

Discussion on goat farm management is also included in the module, and farmer leaders also underwent proper management and care of the goat.

In an interview with I-REAP Business Development Officer Michael Ian Sastrillo, he said the aforementioned cooperatives have already received a goat this year, and cooperatives are also expected to receive the second batch of goat distribution in the coming months.

This is through the combined efforts between and among the Provincial local government unit, specifically in the Provincial Veterinary and Agriculture Office of Maguindanao headed by Dr. Yusoff Adrain Abas, Provincial Veterinarian, and Yussouf Malenkov M. Mangudadatu, Provincial Supervising.

Seeham S. Pangol from the office of regional Livestock has led the Training Management Team with the assistance of Armanzor M. Sandingan.
