MAFAR REGION WIDE CELEBRATION OF THE 2ND BANGSAMORO ANNIVERSARY

Bangsomoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao provinces together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) celebrated the long-week Bangsamoro Foundation Day from January 18-21, 2021 with the theme, “Moral Governance: Building Strong Foundations for a Better Bangsamoro.”

MAFAR Minister Dr. Mohammad Yacob said on January 18, “MAFAR regional office and all MAFAR provincial offices are having simultaneous programs during the anniversary.”

In Lanao del Sur, the kick off ceremony of the week-long celebration was headed by the Provincial Director Atty. Engr. Khalid D. Ansano. With the aim of empowering the Bangsamoro communities and legally strengthening the agri-fishery sector of the society, MAFAR BARMM thru its Legal Services Division established a Legal Aid Clinic and PBD Lawyering Booth. Also the Livestock Program offers free Anti-Rabbies vaccine for cats and dogs situated at MAFAR Provincial Office, Old Capitol, Matampay, Marawi City run from January 18-20.

MAFARLENGKE sa Ranaw is a flagship program by MAFAR through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) with a goal of helping the Farmers and Fisherfolks market their product and enable the consumers to have access to fresh goods at a more affordable price opened last January 20, 2021.

Meanwhile MAFAR-Basilan Provincial Office joined the 2nd Bangsamoro Founding Anniversary held in the Capitol Building, Isabela City, Basilan last January 18, 2021.

Three members of the parliament of BARMM were also present: Hon. MP Alim Faiz S. Alauddin who delivered the message of Hon. Chief Minister Ahod-Murad B. Ebrahim, Hon. MP Atty. Alamiya Masuhud and Hon. MP Abdulmuhmin Mujahid, delivered their own messages. The provincial administrator Hj. Manny Muarip also read his inspiring message.

Furthermore, The MAFAR Basilan personnel paid courtesy dialogue to the active Basilan Governor Hon. Jim S. Hataman focusing on Agriculture & Fisheries to sustain the Road Map for Food security of the inhabitants of Basilan.

“We are able to tackle the 3 Flagship priority programs of the MAFAR: BINHI, LUPA & ISDA,” Hataman announced. He initiated a program on recovery of Coconut Industry in Basilan. Hataman also supported the proposed establishment of Rubber Processing Plant in TipoTipo, Pukan as well as in Sumisip to make the products highly qualitative and globally competitive in the market. The Agricultural Tagline of the Governor is ” BinHi mo itanim mo, bibilihin ko”.

MAFAR-Basilan took the opportunity to introduce one of their flagship programs – the MAFARlengke. A booth was dedicated just the said program during the celebration. Also, MAFAR Basilan distributed agri-fishery inputs to the farmers. Each municipality is represented by a farmer-leader/MILF chairman as they were given gardening tools, assorted vegetable seeds, fruit tree seedlings, fertilizers, and dry goods.

On the other hand, MAFAR Tawi-Tawi headed by its Provincial Director, Dr. Aidarus I. Nami, participated in the Kick-Off Activity of the 2nd BARMM Foundation Day at MAFAR Provincial Office, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

In his message, he emphasized the need for a unity and cooperation to achieve MAFAR’s mission and vision. The MAFAR- Tawi tawi had a MAFARTabuan where various Agri-Fishery products displayed and sold at a farmgate price. Animal Health Services, distribution of farm inputs and leaflets, distribution of 10 sets seaweeds farm inputs, 10 sets hook and line, 200 pcs Fisheries IEC materials, Agrarian Legal Service or Legal Aid Clinic and other services were also rendered and given.

In addition, bundles of Cassava Stalks were transported and distributed to farmer-beneficiaries of Tandubas Municipality on January 18, 2021 in Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi.

In conclusion the MAFAR region-wide celebration is successful with the help of our Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, MAFAR workforce, farmers, fisherfolks and all people who supported the anniversary.
