MAFAR SHOWCASES AGRI-FISHERY VALUE-ADDED PRODUCTS ON ICEFC 2023

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), in collaboration with the Mindanao State University – Maguindanao Campus, participated in the 4th International Conference on Environment Forest Conservation (ICEFC) on November 15-17, 2023.

The conference theme, “Forging Partnership for Climate Change,” was held in Davao City and attended by international partner institutions, professionals, scholars, researchers, government servants, academicians, and other stakeholders.

The conference aimed at converging professionals, scholars, and government bodies to explore interdisciplinary discussions in forestry, environmental sciences, and agriculture. Their presence added practical insight and governmental commitment to addressing global climate challenges.

Minister Mohammad S. Yacob’s message of commitment to environment and forest conservation, represented by Chief of Staff Arphia T. Ebus, highlighted that MAFAR is committed to environmental and forest conservation through responsible agriculture and fisheries good practices.

Meanwhile, the ministry, through the Agribusiness Management and Assistance Division (AMAD), showcased the various agri-fishery value-added products of farmers and fisherfolks cooperatives and associations and agrarian reform beneficiaries to the conference and Senior Agriculturist Ms. Johanisha Dimasangcay had presented the paper entitled “Farmers Coping Mechanisms and Productivity during Drought under Lowland Rice Farming Systems.” Also, this presentation not only highlighted commitment to sustainable agriculture but also showcased practical approaches to addressing environmental challenges.

The activity centered on impactful discussions, innovative solutions, and enduring collaborations. Various strategies and recommendations had been learned through illustrating the path towards a sustainable and resilient future, aligning seamlessly with the overarching spirit of “Forging Partnership for Climate Change” at ICEFC—an event that now stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in shaping a better world.
