MAFAR STRENGTHENS THE OPERATIONALIZATION OF LIGAWASAN MARSH, LAKE BULUAN

MAFAR Municipal Officer and Local Government Units of Maguindanao del Sur participated in the orientation on strengthening the operationalization of Ligawasan Marsh and the Lake Buluan Management Council.

Director General for Fisheries Services Pendatun Patarasa, MPA spearheaded the activity, including Director II for Fisheries Operation Macmod Mamalangkap, Ph.D., Chief of FMRD Hairodin Arap and BRAFC Chairperson Dr. Salik Panalunsong and Mr. Datun Salipada, MENRE on November 28 at Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

DG Patarasa said this activity is significant for our MMOs and especially the Local Government Units because they play a vital role in managing the Ligawasan Marsh and Lake Buluan.

“These bodies of water are giving livelihood to our Bangsamoro fisherfolk, and with that, MAFAR will continually support and capacitate the community around these waters,” DG Patarasa said.

The resource persons from MAFAR discussed the current status of the conservation and protection program of Ligawasan Marsh and Lake Buluan, MAFAR-FRMD Programs/Projects on Fisheries, the importance of conservation and Mngt. of Ligawasan Marsh and Lake Buluan and the Legal Basis of Management and Conservation of Ligawasan Marsh (RA 10654).

Chief Arap said, “The Bangsamoro people and LGU, together with MAFAR and MENRE, will be the first to strengthen the Ligawasan Marsh and Lake Buluan.

He said that in the future, the Bangsamoro Region will boost its economic status.

Furthermore, Director Mamalangkap said that this orientation has allowed us to discuss the development of Ligawasan Marsh and Lake Buluan.
