MAFAR WELCOMES WFP COUNTRY DIRECTOR

World Food Programme Country Director Ms. Brenda Barton met with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform key officials to tackle the WFP and BARMM partnership for three years on Thursday, September 7.

MAFAR Chief of Staff Arphia T. Ebus, Sh. C, Director General for Fisheries Services Pendatun Patarasa, and Director II for Agriculture Services Ismail Guiamel attended the meeting.

The Country Director said, “First and foremost, we would like to offer our sincere gratitude to all of our BARMM partners for their steadfast support and cooperation over the years.”

She experienced the amazing advancement and beneficial effects our group’s efforts have had on the BARMM population.

“We thank BARMM for the opportunity of allowing us to extend our programs in your region. We have seen that BARMM has the potential and resources; that’s why we are grateful that we work hand in hand with the Bangsamoro People,” she said. 

 MAFAR Chief of Staff said, “MAFAR extends its heartfelt appreciation to the WFP for the remarkable collaboration and unwavering support in addressing hunger and food security within our region.

“Your commitment to our people’s well-being has profoundly impacted our communities, particularly in times of crisis and vulnerability,” COS added.

We thank you for your dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts in building a stronger, more resilient Bangsamoro, COS stressed.

In three years, WFP, MAFAR, and other ministries/ offices of BARMM have conducted several activities, such as Mapping of Plans, Programs, Activities, and Projects (PPAPs) for the Bangsamoro Food Sufficiency Task Force (BFSTF), refinement and finalization workshop on the draft Bangsamoro Food Security and Nutrition Plan (BFSNP), formulation of the Bangsamoro Food Security Plan (BFSP) 2021-2025 and others.

Meanwhile, DG Patarasa said WFP and MAFAR have achieved significant milestones and positively impacted the lives of countless individuals.

He said WFP’s support goes beyond the provision of food; it symbolizes hope, resilience, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow for the people of BARMM.

We extend our heartfelt thanks for your steadfast dedication and look forward to continuing this journey towards a more prosperous and food-secure Bangsamoro, he added.
