MAFAR’S EXTENSIVE AGRI-FISHERY INPUTS DISTRIBUTION CATALYZES GROWTH FOR FARMERS AND FISHERFOLKS ACROSS 11 MUNICIPALITIES IN TAWI-TAWI

As one of the highlights of the 8th Expanded ManCom Meeting, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform witnessed the extensive distribution of Agri-Fishery Inputs held on December 8, 2023, at Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, led by MAFARTawi-Tawi Provincial Director Dr. Aidarus I. Nami.

This targeted initiative reached farmers and fisherfolk across the 11 municipalities of Tawi-Tawi, providing a diverse range of essential tools and resources. Distributed items included mini tractors, land cultivators, cassava graters with pressers, pump irrigation systems, hand tractors, garden tools, knapsack sprayers, vegetable seeds, non-motorized boats, seaweed farm inputs, and engines, reflecting a commitment to holistic agricultural empowerment to Tawi-Tawi Province.

Dr. Nami highlighted, “This initiative is a testament to our commitment to working hand-in-hand, transcending boundaries for a common goal.”

The event was a significant moment for MAFAR. It was witnessed by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bongao, represented by Al-Gibran Amilasan and State Auditor Marianita Castillo, adding a layer of official recognition and support.

Beyond a simple allocation of resources, the initiative holds a profound purpose: to fortify the foundations of agriculture and fisheries in Tawi-Tawi.

BDG Pendatun S. Patarasa emphasized, “This goes beyond the distribution; it’s about empowering communities, enhancing livelihoods, and ensuring a sustainable future for Tawi-Tawi.”

BDG Daud K. Lagasi added, “Our aim is not just input distribution but catalyzing a shift towards innovative, sustainable farming methods that elevate productivity and resilience.”

Farming communities from the 11 municipalities of Tawi-Tawi are poised to benefit significantly from this targeted initiative, with direct contributions to enhancing farming and fishing practices. The ripple effect is anticipated to create economic opportunities and ensure food security in the province.

MAFAR-BARMM’s Directors Generals along with Directors Mohammadtaha Pendaliday, Macmod Mamalangkap, and Tong Pinguiman, showcased a cohesive stance and a unified commitment alongside Provincial Directors Hanie Muadz Junuban of Basilan, Dr. Ronjamin Maulana of Maguindanao, OIC-PD of Sulu Jun Ammak and Asst PD for SGA Ismael Satol. Their active involvement and the participation of regional and provincial delegates during the 8th Management Committee Meeting shared commitment and emphasized a collective dedication to steering Tawi-Tawi toward agricultural prosperity.

As the impact of this historic event resonates through Tawi-Tawi, it signifies a new era in the province’s agricultural and fisheries development. The momentum generated by the Massive Input Distribution lays the groundwork for a future marked by innovation, collaboration, and prosperity, positioning Tawi-Tawi as a model for agricultural success within the Bangsamoro Region.
