MENTORING AND ATTRACTING YOUTH IN AGRIBUSINESS (MAYA) INTERN GRADUATES IN MAFAR

COTABATO CITY | July 6, 2021

After 3-months of internship in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), the Mentoring and Attracting Youth in Agribusiness (MAYA) Interns partook in their graduation ceremony.

On Friday, July 06, 2021, a total of 16 MAYA interns graduated in MAFAR Conference Room, BGC Compound, Cotabato City, BARMM.

Director II for Agricultural Services Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel said, “I hope you learn a lot from your 3-months exposure in MAFAR; May you appeal and serve as a good example to the Bangsamoro youth generation,” Director Guaimel emphasized.

MAYA is under the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agriculture Research (DA-BAR) program through MAFAR, which encourages the youth to engage in agriculture. It aims to develop young Filipinos into agri-fishery entrepreneurs or “agripreneurs” or possibly technocrats, training as future DA leaders or their respective communities and local government units (LGUs).

Meanwhile, Minister Mohammad S. Yacob, Ph.D., said, “Utilized yourselves, put your learnings into practice. If the government can’t accommodate you, do your job, and don’t be just a youth that needs a government, but by a youth that needs by the government.”

The Graduation Ceremony was led by the Chief of AMAD, Dr. Tong D. Pinguiaman, and Senior Agriculturist Datu Hamsur J. Zaid, Ramil M. Timpolok, and Johanisha M. Dimasangcay.
