MINISTER YACOB LEADS THE MALLARD DUCK DISTRIBUTION IN TAWI-TAWI

True to its promise to help provide assistance to farmers, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform Mohammad S. Yacob Ph. D together with Provincial Director Aidarus I. Nami has led the distribution of 500 mallard ducks to some farmers on June 30, 2021, in the municipality of Bongao, Province of Tawi-Tawi.

In an interview, Yacob said that the beneficiaries need to sustain this livelihood program to help with their daily living.

Provincial Director Aidarus I. Nami said that these ducks would be raised by the farmers in the municipalities of Bongao and Panglima Tawi-Tawi, who belong to the first batch recipient so that they could produce duck eggs.

He further explained that they envision to become the province center for the mass production of duck eggs in the Bangsamoro Region.

Rebeca Alborado, a farmer from Bato-Bato, said they are fortunate to be the recipient of assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR).

“Iingatan namin at siguradong palalawakin pa namin ang aming kaalaman upang mas maging pakipakinabang ang bigay ng gobyernong pangkabuhayan sa amin.”

The ceremony was attended by Director for Agriculture Ismael Guiamel, MAFAR Tawi-Tawi Provincial Director Aidarus I. Nami, Chief of Operations Tong Abas, and other MAFAR officials.

Such project is part of the organic production program funded under the Bangsamoro Appropration Act of 2020 and are expected to help egg production in the province.
