PROPONENT GROUPS IN MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR RECEIVE FIRST TRANCHE FUNDS FOR GOAT MULTIPLICATION PROJECT

To kickstart the implementation of the Goat Multiplication, Fattening, and Marketing subproject, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform-Philippine Rural Development Project (MAFAR-PRDP) Regional Project Coordination Office BARMM, in collaboration with the Provincial Local Government Units of Maguindanao del Sur, has turned over the first tranche of funds to four Proponent Groups (PGs) in Maguindanao del Sur.

Each of the four Proponent Groups received Php 2,004,170.47 as the first tranche of the project funds. These funds are earmarked for procuring essential resources, including the construction of goat houses, to kickstart this venture.

The project is set to provide a fresh source of livelihood for the community while addressing local poverty concerns.

Amir Hussain A. Macapendeg, Board Member of the Province of Maguindanao del Sur, emphasized the project’s potential impact, encouraging the Proponent Groups to nurture and expand the initiative.

“We hope that, even if this project does not completely eradicate poverty in our area, it will at least alleviate our suffering by providing us with additional sources of income,” he stated.

The “Goat Multiplication, Fattening, and Marketing” project is funded under the World Bank AF2 with a European Co-Financing grant poised to bring hope to local farmers seeking alternative livelihoods in the face of economic challenges.

In addition to the fund disbursement, Mr. Michael Ian B. Sastrillo, Business Development Officer, played a pivotal role in facilitating strategic planning and catch-up plans to ensure the successful completion of the subproject.

Several key officials attended the event, including Atty. Cyrus E. Torreña, Provincial Administrator; Ameer Hussain A. Macapendig, Board Member; EnP. Nulfarid S. Ampatuan, OIC PPMIU Head; Engr. Jedahni E. Ulangkaya, OIC Provincial Agriculturist; Norhid Wahab, MAFAR Maguindanao PRDP Focal Person, and the PRDP RPCO-BARMM team.
