RESULTS OF PARTICIPATORY RESOURCE AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT (PRSA) OF ILLANA BAY PRESENTED BY MSU-MAGUINDANAO TO THE PSCO, RPMO, FISHERIES SERVICES AND LGUs

The FishCORAL Project partnered with MSU Maguindanao to conduct Participatory Resource and Socio-Economic Assessment (PRSA) of Illana Bay which aims to generate an accurate and updated database on the condition of the fisheries and coastal resources of Illana Bay and the socio-economic profile of its surrounding municipalities. The information gathered by the PRSA will be used as reference in the refinement of the comprehensive coastal resource management initiatives that will address the trend of resources depletion in coastal waters.

In order to validate the results of the assessment, an overall presentation was conducted by the MSU Maguindanao in Pagana Kutawato, Cotabato City on March 9, 2021. The results were presented to the Local Government Units (LGUs), Project Support and Coordination Office (PSCO), Regional Project Management Office (RPMO) and the MAFAR Fisheries Services. There were comments and clarifications from the participants with regards to the results that were discussed that will help to further improve the terminal report.

The activity was participated by the FishCORAL National Project Director, Ms. Jessica Munoz, the Director of Fisheries Services, Dr. Macmod Mamalangkap, Assistant to the Fisheries for Special Concerns, Pendatun Patarasa together with the other regional and provincial MAFAR staff.
