RICE PLANTING FESTIVAL IN DAS BRINGS IN CASH ASSISTANCE FOR FARMERS
Farmers in Datu Abdullah Sangki rejoiced as they performed the planting festival of the quality rice seeds given by the MAFAR and they received cash assistance from their local government, at the same time.
The activity called First Planting Festival for Seedgrowers and Hybrid Rice Producers was conducted today (May 9, 2020), in Barangay Talisawa of the municipality and was attended by officials from the MAFAR, NIA, the municipal government, media people, and the officers and members of six irrigators’ associations (IAs) based in the municipality.
During the ceremonial planting, the active farmers were joined by no less than Hon. Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu, Municipal Mayor together with Tong A. Abas, MAFAR-BARMM Rice Program Focal Person, Abdulnasseef S. Ulong, BARMMIARC Center Manager, Abdulnasser K. Badawi, Provincial Agricultural Officer, Dr Ronjamin M. Maulana, MAFAR-Maguindanao Operations Officer, and Sonora A. Dagadas, Municipal Agricultural Officer.
After few days, the seedlings will grow vigorously in a total of 175 hectares of farmland of which 25 hectares are planted with Registered Rice Seeds and 150 hectares with hybrid rice seeds.
Through the stewardship of Hon. Mayor Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu, cash assistance worth Php50,000 was turned over to each of the six IAs namely Sinawang Communal Irrigators Association (CIA), Talisawa Settlers CIA, Saliao CIA, Masukor IA, Malilintad IA, and Al Weda IA.
