Tawi-Tawi farmers improve farming techniques thru MAFAR training

Tawi-Tawi-The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform in Tawi-Tawi launched two trainings on High Yield Production Technologies for Rice, Corn, and Vegetables on October 22, 2021, in the municipalities of Bongao and Panglima Sugala.

In his message, MAFAR Provincial Director Aidarus I. Nami, Ph.D., said, “Don’t blame the soil for your low harvest but blame your techniques, and that’s the reason why we are always here to impart new farming techniques for you to have a high yield or production.”

This training is the Project for Agricultural Trainings for the Establishment of Peace in Mindanao of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

Assistant to the Minister for Special Concern and the UNFAO Focal Person, Mr. Pendatun S. Patarasa, said that the BARMM government, especially MAFAR, is working very hard to uplift the living condition of the Bangsamoro people.

Agriculture and Fisheries are the backbones of the BARMM government. Thus, our dear farmers are all essential to us; you’re feeding us; without you, we are all hungry, Patarasa added.

Aside from this training, the said program will be conducting various training on different topics/commodities in the coming days.

UNFAO Regional Coordinator Mr. Totoh Taguilaot, Chief Agriculturist, and UNFAO Provincial Coordinator Dr. Hja. Aida T. Jumli and other top officials of MAFAR Tawi-Tawi attended the said opening program.
