MAFAR TURNS OVER A MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING WITH A SOLAR DRYER FACILITY TO LANGUYAN YATEEM ASSOCIATION

BASILAN – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) recently conducted the Turnover Ceremony of a Multi-Purpose Building with Solar Dryer held on December 21, at Barangay Languyan, Hadji Muhammad Ajul, Basilan.

The project, which has a total cost of Php4,123,707.81, was initiated and proposed by MP Hatimil Hassan and came to fruition under the Bangsamoro Special Development Fund through MAFAR. The newly inaugurated infrastructure includes a Multi-Purpose Building measuring 160 sq.m and a Solar Dryer spanning 300 sq.m.

The beneficiary of this initiative is the Languyan Yateem Association, a former combatant community organization dedicated to the welfare and progress of its members in farming activities.

Engr. Ghalia Darping, MAFAR-SDF Program Officer, led the ceremony and emphasized the importance of the project in enhancing the agricultural landscape of Basilan.

The Multi-Purpose Building serves as a storage facility for various agri-fishery products. Meanwhile, the Solar Dryer facility introduces an eco-friendly approach to agriculture by harnessing solar energy to efficiently dry crops, ensuring better quality and longer shelf life.

MAFAR-Basilan representatives, MP Hatimil Hassan representative Atty Khalid Hassana, and the MAFAR Engineering Division team witnessed the Turnover Ceremony. Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Languyan Capt. Nasser Hassan also graced the event, showcasing the collaborative efforts between the government and local communities.
