MAFAR STRENGTHENS BPMS, TPCVW THROUGH TRAINING

As part of strengthening the implementation of the Bantay Presyo Monitoring System (BPMS) and Trading Post Commodity Volume Watch (TPCVW), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform through the Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Division has conducted Orientation and Hands-On Training at Pagana Native Restaurant, Cotabato City.

On September 5-6, around 40 individuals composed of MAFAR Agriculturists from the region and provincial office and representatives from DA National and other partner agencies attended the activity.

According to AMAD Chief Datu Hamsur Zaid, the training remarks as an avenue to raise some issues and concerns on the concurrent situation in the country, particularly on the increment price hikes of certain commodities.

He said this is also to showcase the introduction of the system to be used in imposing rules and policies related to the implementation of the BPMS and TPCVW and the creation of the essential steps to be implemented.

“One of our concerns here is how we can participate and assess the implementation of Executive Order No.39 on the Imposition of Mandated Price Ceiling on Rice by our President BongBong Marcos, and through this, we must combat this issue considering that we are one of those consumers,” he said.

In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving economic landscape, effective monitoring and management of commodity prices are essential for both consumers and traders. The Bantay Presyo Monitoring System, coupled with the Trading Post Commodity Volume Watch, represents a significant leap forward in ensuring price stability and market transparency.

Director General of Agriculture Services Dr. Daud K. Lagasi expressed his full support for the activity and said it is important to adapt and accept the data to ensure that the proper pricing will be implemented.

In addition, MAFAR Chief of Staff Arphia T. Ebus, Sh. C said, “We are doing these, creating some strategies to at least prevent the issue or the problem, and we are really trying our best and work hard for the benefit of the Bangsamoro,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile, in his closing message, Director II for Agriculture Services Engr. Ismail A. Guiamel commends the effort of AMAD and the stakeholders involved for their commitment to formulate some steps to resolve the current issues.

He also emphasized the importance of price monitoring and hoped that the knowledge that they will gain from this training will be helpful to all since their task is crucial in the field of developing economic conditions.
