RPCO-BARMM turns over 130-breeding goat stocks to the beneficiaries in Maguindanao

The Regional Project Coordination Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RPCO-BARMM) turned over the 130-breeding goat stocks to the beneficiaries in Maguindanao in completion of the six batches of breeding stocks for Sub-project Goat Multiplication, Fattening, Marketing under the Investment for Rural Enterprise for Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity (I-REAP) Component.

On May 31, the team turned over the last two batches of goats (50-female and 2-male) to Lumpingan Agripreneur Marketing Cooperative and the last three batches of goats (75-female and 3-male) to the Kalian Bangsamoro Women Agri-Marketing Cooperative.

In an interview, Michael Ian B. Sastrillo, Business Development Officer, said the I-REAP team delivered the first four and three batches of breeding stocks to the said cooperative last year. In addition, there will be upcoming delivery of goat stocks for fattening for the last week of June.

This project aims to increase the population of meat-type goats for chevon production through crossbreed fattening. The project’s success ensures livelihood sustainability and additional income generating for the cooperative beneficiaries as the Goat Multiplication, Fattening, and Marketing is a priority commodity in the Province of Maguindanao.

Roseda Utto, Chairwoman of Kalian Bangsamoro Women Agri-Marketing Cooperative, was grateful to the MAFAR-PRDP for the project they received. “Malaking tulong ito sa amin bilang kababaihan na mapaaral ang aming mga anak at mai-angat ang aming buhay.” she said.

“Dati na kami nag-aalaga ng kambing pero hindi ganito karami, nung nadagdagan ang aming mga kambing, nadagdagan narin ang aming income.” Utto emphasized.

Present during the turn-over were Business Development Officer of Project Support Office Mindanao Engr. Brenda A. Dimas, RPCO-BARMM BDO’s Michael Ian B. Sastrillo, Suhayra A. Subod, and I-REAP Focal for Maguindanao Engr. Jedahni E. Ulangkaya.
